Student reflections I am a Healthy NewsWorks reporter for my school, East Norriton Middle School. I have been a reporter here since the fifth grade. I am now in seventh grade. From working on the Bulldog Bulletin newspaper, I have really grown as a writer. Yes, I still make grammar errors, but no one is perfect and I have learned from my mistakes. Every time that I have done a story, I always have received a lot of suggestions. It is heavily revised. But recently, there were just three sug- gestions. Three! That made me so proud. You get to see the impact that your stories have on people. You get to see the pride on people’s faces when their quotes are being read and talked about by the entire student body. And you are the one that made them feel proud. You don’t know how good that makes you feel. There really are not words to describe it. —By Randee Wismer, seventh grade, East Norriton Middle School There are many proud moments I had as a Healthy Hope news reporter, but a recent proud moment was interviewing Marcus Allen. I was very touched by how he helped families get back on their feet. Mr. Allen’s words opened my ears and made me think about how I need to pick up my act so I can go to college and be successful. He said things that changed my life and I wanted to share his words with others. I was part of our staff who helped write the book article about Marcus Allen. We worked really hard and made lots of edits. I felt that we made our teacher proud because of all of the effort and the time that we put in on the article. That made me proud because I know it is going to help me with my future in writing. I’m also proud because I have overcome my shyness. I can now talk to people and ask them questions like a pro! This newspaper is hard work and I’m glad that the students at our school realize it. We are complimented by everyone in our community for our work. I’m proud to be a Healthy Hope report- er because it helps our readers to live a healthy and safer life. It makes me feel successful. —By Tamir Brooks, sixth grade, Hope Partnership for Education Illustration by Madison Kelly, Chestnutwold Healthy Times
