Beatriz Garces, D.M.D., was born in Havana, Cuba, and moved to Miami, Fla., in 1994. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biology at Florida International University and her dental medicine degree from Temple University School of Dentistry. In addition to owning her practice, The Garces Dental Group, she founded The Garces Family Foundation, is a board member for Puentes de Salud, and serves as a part-time faculty clinician for the Dental Health Center at Delaware Technical Community College in Wilmington, Del.; Christiana Care Hospi- tal in Newark, Del.; and Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia. Neil Izenberg, M.D., is founder and chief executive of KidsHealth.org, the nation’s most-visited website about children’s health. His career-long focus has been on developing media that positively influence families’ knowledge, beliefs, and behavior concerning children’s health issues. Dr. Izenberg is also a board-certified pediatrician at the Nemours/ Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., and a professor of pediatrics at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Mohammed Al Jumaili is a senior at Abington High School in Abington, Pa., where he has participated on the school’s wrestling, robotics, and tennis teams. He also has taken part in the chess club and Reading Olympics. He is an Eagle Scout and is planning to attend Valley Forge Military Academy College and then transfer to Drexel University. Electrical engineering and criminal justice are two of the majors he is considering. Heather McDanel is the founding executive director of Students Run Philly Style, a program that offers mentorship through long-distance running. Ms. McDanel, who holds a Master of Public Health from Temple University, oversees all aspects of the program and ensures its financial stability. Under her leadership, the program has grown to include 800 students, and it also offers academic support and intensive leadership training.
