He says nature is important for children’s health. For instance, children need clean water and nature cleans it. When children spend time outside, school is also more fun, and they learn better, Mr. Weilbacher says. He takes every opportunity to protect the environment—including picking up cans for recycling when he is out on a walk—and to talk about it. He even is a regular guest on a children’s radio show on WXPN-FM in Philadelphia.
