The following letters are among those written by students during the 2014–15 school year to health leaders featured in the first three books in our series, Leading Healthy Change In Our Communities. The entire series can be viewed on our website (www.HealthyNewsWorks.org). Arthur Evans, Ph.D. Commissioner Philadelphia Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services Dear Dr. Evans, You inspire us by making people feel better. You are a good role model for children because you “forced yourself to get involved in student government and other activities to build self- confidence.” We would like to do your job. Why? You help children see that we can make a difference in the world. For example, you help children and families get the emotional help and support they need. Your job is important to people because the advice you give children is “treat people with respect.” Yours truly, Ava Augustine and Emani DiCriscio James Dobson Elementary School Lt. James Reif Safe Schools Coordinator Upper Darby Police Department Dear Lt. Reif, I am very inspired by your work! For example, I like how you respect others and teach people not to fight. You are a good role model for children because you set a good example and help kids focus on positive things. When I grow up, I would like to be like you because I like helping children and making a difference for the future. Your job is very important and I think more people should be like you so this world can be just and peaceful. Sincerely, Joel Rivera William Cramp Elementary School Marc Vetri Founder Vetri Foundation Dear Mr. Vetri, I like what you do and I hope one day you can come to my school.
