about what he eats and how he exercises. His interests led him to become a member of the Youth Advisory Board for the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. The national group was founded by the American Heart Association and the Clinton Foundation to fight childhood obesity and encourage healthy habits. Kaseir says his decision to apply for the advisory board was one of the best he has ever made. During his time on the board, he has learned how to present his ideas in front of large groups and to serve as an ambassador for healthy living. Before his senior year in high school, Kaseir started giving health and nutrition classes for children and young people ages 8 to 17. He creates his own worksheets for the classes and organizes taste tests. He wants children to know that what they put in their mouths will affect their bodies—now and in the future. He encourages them to drink water instead of soda, choose fruits and vegetables over junk food, and limit foods with added sugar. And he says they should get off the couch and move. Kaseir Archie Loving a sport can change everything Kaseir Archie discovered ice hockey by accident when he was 11 years old. A hockey coach spotted him on a Philadelphia basketball court and invited him to give ice hockey a try. Kaseir thought, “Why not?” The sport soon became a passion. He even gave up basketball to join an ice hockey team. His training has paid off. Now a high school senior, he has served for the past four years as captain of a hockey team based at the University of Pennsylvania’s Class of 1923 Arena. He has traveled to Minnesota for hockey camp and to New York State for a hockey tournament. He gives back to the sport by mentoring younger players. And during the hockey off-season, he keeps himself in shape by competing on his high school track team. Along the way, Kaseir says, he discovered something that helps him on the ice: If he eats a balanced diet, he has more energy. The discovery caused him to think more seriously 6 Illustrations by Sariyah Thomas, James Dobson Fit Fin
