Dr. Lavizzo-Mourey is optimistic. From First Lady Michelle Obama on down, more people are concerned about childhood obesity. Many schools have become healthier places where kids can exercise more and eat more nutritiously, Dr. Lavizzo-Mourey says. When asked how she stays healthy, Dr. Lavizzo-Mourey says she tries to exercise one hour a day at least five days a week. She works out on a treadmill and other exercise equipment, practices yoga, takes long walks, and lifts weights. She also tries to eat healthy food.
