stores. The vegetables on sale often had traveled hundreds, if not thousands, of miles to Philadelphia. Running the farm is a lot of work, Ms. Corboy says. In the beginning, she and her business partner had to do all the chores and gardening by themselves. A 19-member staff and volunteers now work the farm and related programs. These days, Ms. Corboy spends a lot of time at a desk, overseeing the farm and its staff. “As much as we plan, Mother Nature is in charge,” she says. Mother Nature can bring headaches such as the day when the wind blew off the roof of a greenhouse. Ms. Corboy tries to stay healthy, too. She has survived a bout with cancer. It is not just exercising and eating well that keeps you healthy, she says. It is important to have a healthy spirit, mind, and body. She says she has found so much joy from farming. “It is incredibly satisfying work to create something,” she says. “It is great to know I am part of something bigger.” —By Elena Tzivekis East Norriton Bulldog Bulletin Illustration by Rebekah Wilford, East Norriton Bulldog Bulletin
