Seamus started his schooling when he was a couple of months old. He lived with a volunteer puppy raiser for 18 months to learn social skills and how to follow directions. He then went to a special school—the equivalent of a dog college— for six months to receive advanced training, Dr. Tassini says. His early life had been entirely “focused on getting a job.” Dr. Tassini and Seamus also visit schools and attend events to help raise awareness 25 Illustration by Dalia Brown, Gotwals Healthy Press about brain injuries. They encourage people to wear bike helmets, to keep all-terrain vehicles off roads, and to buckle up their seatbelts when riding in cars and trucks.
