13 right people,” she says. “And when something goes right you can tell the right people.” Ms. English also has reported on asthma. “In the story I said that parents can do things to make their kids breathe easier, like use [special] pillowcases to prevent kids from breathing in mites or dust,” she says. Mites are tiny, eight-legged creatures that can cause disease and allergies, according to MedicineNet.com. Ms. English says parents can also avoid using “certain bathroom sprays or cleaners that have particles in them that make it harder to breathe.” Ms. English says she is especially proud of her story about men who become nurses. “A lot of boys didn’t know that when they grow up they can be a nurse,” she says. To do the story, she talked to men who were nurses. “They told me that when there are men who are sick, it helps them heal when someone who looks like them helps them,” Ms. English says. Being a reporter has helped Ms. English, too. “I am a little bit shy,” she says. “When you are a journalist, you have a license to ask almost anybody almost anything you want. You get to ask questions even if you are shy.” — By Mohamed Bashir, Z’nya Love Johnson, Michaila Matthews, and Julius Williams Community Partnership School Healthy Herald Illustration by Michaila Matthews, Community Partnership School Healthy Herald
