When we asked Dr. Murthy questions about loneliness, he gave great answers but specific answers to what we asked. He didn’t try to spin off it to say what he wanted to say. Some of the questions seemed very important to him, which made me feel like he really cared. It was also really nice how he asked us some questions and opinions on things.
One big idea that I will remember from Dr. Murthy’s answers was when he said that both small and big steps can help make loneliness go away. This shows that even smiling at someone or just holding the door for them can make a huge impact on their lives and help them. He even explained that once when he was a kid he was being bullied and someone stood up for him. This small act helped him and he still remembers.
Something I will do differently after hearing Dr. Murthy is to try to make more connections with people who aren’t similar to me so that we can learn from each other’s perspectives and not feel stuck in one community. Itâs very important to be open to people different from you and learn about different communities. Dr. Murthy also talked about how it doesn’t matter how much time you’re spending with someone, it’s the quality. At first, I was nervous to meet Dr. Murthy but he was very kind and nice, and I think that all made us feel better.
