Illustrations by Jacqueline Lemus, sixth grade, Spring Garden Healthy Mission Keith Russell is the program manager for urban conservation for Audubon Pennsylvania. In addition, he is a research associate of the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University. Mr. Russell has also worked as a program assistant for National Audubon’s Important Bird Area Program, as assistant editor for the landmark publication The Birds of North America, and as collection manager for the exhibits department of the Academy of Natural Sciences. He has received a number of awards, including the American Birding Association’s Ludlow Griscom Award for Outstanding Contributions to Regional Ornithology. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Cornell University and a master’s of science in zoology from Clemson University. Al Zone is a proud lifelong resident of Norristown and attended public schools there. He had a class in the very room at Eisenhower Middle School where he was interviewed for this book. Mr. Zone is a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania, where he was captain of the football team and headed the student council. He had a career in catering and other ventures before becoming executive director of Elmwood Park Zoo in 2012. 40 About our leaders(continued)
