She says she hopes that, in five years, Indego bikes are in just about every Philadelphia neighborhood and that it will be possible “for people to someday just walk out their doors and check out a bike.” She would like for bikes to be available to children younger than 14 as well so families could ride together. Biking is a great heart-healthy activity for people of all ages, Ms. Murray says. “It helps you get your daily recommended dose of exer- cise,” she says. “It gets your heart rate going. The more people bike, the healthier they are.” It’s also good for the environment. Unlike cars, she says, bikes don’t pollute. Even though younger children can’t use Indego bikes yet, she says that kids can help “by encouraging other people.” “You can be a huge inspiration to the adults on the benefit of bikes in their lives and letting them know it’s good for their health,” she says. —By Healthy Outlook staff St. Raymond of Penafort School 19 Rules of the road Here are three important tips for safe biking: •  Wear a helmet.
