Become a community partner with Healthy NewsWorks
January 8, 2026

Become a community partner and play a meaningful role in helping Healthy NewsWorks student reporters learn how to ask thoughtful questions, evaluate sources, and communicate clearly.

Community partners are businesses, organizations, and educational institutions who help make it possible for elementary and middle school students in the Philadelphia region to produce school newspapers, magazines, and related digital content focused on health topics that affect their daily lives.

In 2026, community partners can be recognized across several HNW initiatives, including our second  Healthy Conversations event on April 28 at IBX in Center City, Philadelphia. The spring gathering brings together students, families, educators, and community members for discussions about health and journalism. Partners are acknowledged at the event, on our website, and in related materials. Learn more and watch a video from last year’s event here.

Another opportunity comes through By Kids, For Kids magazines, which highlights student reporting and health tips. Spring and Fall 2026 issues will include partner logos alongside student content, with thousands of copies distributed to schools and community sites.

Partners may also be recognized through student-created videos focused on our 2025-26 reporting theme: Making Healthy Connections. These videos feature student reporting, artwork, and reflections and are shared with schools and families.

To learn more about our community partnership opportunities, please contact John LaChine, chief of staff, at jlachine@healthynewsworks.org or Diane Davis, community outreach manager, at ddavis@healthynewsworks.org. Also, visit our Community Partner page.
