Dr. Frederic Bertley is president and CEO of the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus, Ohio, where he hosts a YouTube series, “Dr. B in 3.” On the show, Dr. Bertley answers three questions about pressing topics, such as herd immunity, variants, and artificial intelligence.

Dr. Bertley also started a program called The Color of Science, which focuses on the work of people of color and women in science. He said he wanted to show people that “scientists aren’t all old white men with thick glasses and pocket protectors.”

Dr. Bertley is the past senior vice president for science and education at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. He was a Healthy NewsWorks health leader in 2016, when he was interviewed by student reporters from the Hope Partnership for Education Healthy Hope. He also was featured in our 2020 book as a past leader, when he was interviewed by student reporters from the Gotwals Healthy Press.
