Board welcomes Leah (Morelle) Mack
September 22, 2025

Healthy NewsWorks is pleased to announce that Leah (Morelle) Mack has joined the board of directors.

Leah is a partner at PwC where she specializes in pharmaceuticals, life sciences, healthcare providers, and higher education institutions. She brings an abundance of professional experience in accounting and finance to the Healthy NewsWorks board.

Leah has spent 18 years at PwC partnering with not-for-profit organizations in and around the Boston area to help drive their success. She now looks forward to making an impact in the Philadelphia area, where she recently moved with her husband and two children.

“As a parent of two, I find it fascinating when students get extra outlets for their development,” Leah said. “We talk about art and gym as extras in school—but not journalism. To provide an opportunity like Healthy NewsWorks in under-resourced schools throughout Philadelphia and Camden is special.”

It’s a mission of Leah’s to advance science and knowledge through communication. That’s what drew her to Healthy NewsWorks, and to see young people taking pride in educating themselves and others on important topics is encouraging, she says.

“Responsible journalism is so important. It gives us the framework we need to accurately interpret and make sense of what is happening in our world,” said Leah.

Leah says she’s most excited to see how Healthy NewsWorks will grow—not just in the number of students it reaches, but in the depth of experiences students have in the classrooms, and how that affects their lifelong learning.

“The skills they are learning are propelling them in school and will carry them through adulthood, and I am very excited to work with the staff and other board members to expand Healthy NewsWorks’ impact on students and the communities,” Leah said.

“We’re thrilled to have Leah join the board,” said Healthy NewsWorks Executive Director Marian Uhlman. “Both her experience in supporting nonprofits and her interest in supporting children make her a wonderful addition to the Healthy NewsWorks community.”
