Healthy NewsWorks is hiring!
August 25, 2025

Healthy NewsWorks is seeking a part-time Communications Associate to help tell its story and expand its reach.  This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of health, education, and journalism, and to support young student reporters who share health-related topics with their schools and communities.

The Communications Associate will play a central role in engaging with teachers, donors, board members, and community members; crafting high-quality newsletters, fundraising materials, and promotional content; and managing website and social media activity.

Healthy NewsWorks student journalists produce newspapers, magazines, and videos that are grounded in fact-based reporting and health education. The Communications Associate will support that work, collaborating closely with educators and professionals—including editors, designers, and filmmakers—to bring student stories to a broader audience.

“This position is ideal for someone who’s passionate about communications and public health, and who’s excited to contribute to a meaningful cause,” said Marian Uhlman, Executive Director of Healthy NewsWorks. “We’re looking for a versatile communicator who’s eager to learn, create, and collaborate.”

Healthy NewsWorks offers a flexible, collaborative environment, and the position offers the potential of increased hours as the role grows. The organization values creativity, inclusion, and the power of young voices to drive change in health understanding and behavior.
