Dean Millard, a Healthy NewsWorks alum, returned this year to Cole Manor Elementary School, where he was previously a reporter for the Healthy Comet.
Student reporters interviewed Dean about making his journey through college and about how he’s tried to make good decisions throughout his life.
“I always say, ‘If my parents were here, what would they say about this decision?’” Dean told the Healthy Comet reporters. “I assess that and then say, ‘Am I being my best self?’ when I’m deciding what to do.”
Since his visit to Cole Manor, Dean has received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and will begin law school there this fall.
The Cole Manor reporters wrote about Dean for the Healthy Comet and for the Spring 2025 edition of By Kids, For Kids magazine. They also helped produce a video about Dean and his visit to the school. The film features students on Ms. Lindsay Armour’s 4th-grade news team, including Aria Bucci, who interviewed her classmates about what they learned about decision-making from Dean.
“Dean wants to inspire others to make good and healthy choices so that they can contribute to their communities,” said Aria in the video. “Dean encouraged today’s reporters to enjoy being students, work hard, make good choices, and have some fun.”
