Strides toward Building a Healthy Future
July 21, 2025

Thank you to everyone who has contributed during the first two years of our Building a Healthy Future Campaign!

We are happy to report that, as of June 30, 2025, Healthy NewsWorks has received more than $722,000 in cash and pledges toward our three-year goal of raising $1 million from individual donors through the campaign.

We are deeply grateful to the first-time donors and returning donors who helped us secure $2,500 in matching gifts from two anonymous donors at the end of the fiscal year. Including the matching gifts, the special appeal added $10,000 to the Building a Healthy Future total.

We are now entering the final year of the campaign, which is helping to strengthen Healthy NewsWorks’ capacity and position it to reach more students with our unique health and media literacy program.

Investment in our students helps them develop skills to identify facts, research rigorously, listen to others carefully, present their work thoughtfully, and serve their communities through accurate, source-based reporting.

During the 2024-25 school year, Healthy NewsWorks served 1,995 students in under-resourced communities, published 44 individual school newspapers, conducted family engagement workshops, and hosted Healthy Conversations, a spring event that engaged our reporters, their families, teachers, and our supporters in small-group conversations about decision-making.

In the year ahead, we are planning additional outreach and special events to expand the number of donors who believe in our students’ futures and will help support their continued growth.
