Healthy NewsWorks is excited to announce that our Building a Healthy Future campaign has surpassed $674,000 in contributions and pledges as of December 31, 2024. Our fall 2024 fund drive was a big success and helped put us well on our way toward our goal of raising $1 million by June 30, 2026. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this effort!
The Building a Healthy Future campaign is a three-year effort focused on expanding the number of students in our programs and deepening the Healthy NewsWorks experience for entire school communities in Grades K to 8 while engaging with families, friends, and neighbors and strengthening teacher skills.
“Our supporters’ investment in Healthy NewsWorks demonstrates their commitment to and confidence in the organization to continue and grow its unique and critical program,” said Amy Ginensky, president of the Healthy NewsWorks board of directors. “It’s already making a difference in our ability to grow our staff and add schools to our program.”
In 2024, Healthy NewsWorks welcomed three new staff members and produced dozens of school newspapers, several short comic videos, and two editions of By Kids, For Kids magazine, among a wide range of activities.
“We know that these students will leave the program with essential tools, otherwise not available to them, but critical for personal and education success. This is a gift to these students and our donors are making it possible,” Amy said.
As 2025 begins, our reporters are focused on the theme “Making Good Decisions.” They are researching, interviewing, and writing for their school newspapers and the Spring 2025 edition of By Kids, For Kids magazine. (See last year’s magazines and other student work here.)
“The media literacy and health knowledge that our students gain has never been more vital, and the articles and artwork they produce bring that beyond their classrooms, into their school community,” said Marian Uhlman, executive director of Healthy NewsWorks. “The terrific progress toward our Building a Healthy Future goal is a testament both to the incredible work our students produce and the commitment of our supporters to help bring this programming to more students,.”
