A recent article on media literacy featuring Healthy NewsWorks Program Manager Mia Blitstein has been reprinted in Spanish by Impacto Latin Newspaper. The July 19 article appears on Impacto’s website.
Impacto is distributed in predominantly Latino neighborhoods in Philadelphia, as well as at strategic sites throughout the city and region.
The article, which first appeared in Penn GSE magazine, a publication of the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, highlighted Healthy NewsWorks as part of the national movement to increase media literacy in schools. Mia earned a master’s degree from Penn’s GSE in 2002.
“We are excited for Mia and our students to receive this recognition, both from Penn GSE and by Impacto,” said Marian Uhlman, Healthy NewsWorks executive director. “We are grateful to Impacto for giving this message a wider audience in neighborhoods where many of our students and their families live.”
