Two new installments of Healthy NewsWorks’ By Kids, For Kids magazine are set for publication this year. The Spring 2024 issue will debut in April, with a Fall issue to be distributed at the start of the 2024–25 school year. About 3,000 copies of each issue will be made available in schools, with a limited number released to community organizations. A digital version will be published as well.
By Kids, For Kids will focus on the theme Caring for Our Community and Ourselves, which our reporters have worked on throughout the 2023–24 school year. The magazine will include student reflections, illustrations, games, book reviews, as well as compelling articles about Healing Verse Philly Poetry Line founder Trapeta B. Mayson, physician and philanthropist Dr. Keith Leaphart, and Philly Truce president Steven Pickens, among other experts and community leaders.
The inaugural By Kids, For Kids, published in Spring 2023, was a hit with both students and teachers, with one of the latter telling Healthy NewsWorks, “We got them—they are amazing!!! I gave ‘advance copies’ to the girls who were published. They were super excited!” Another teacher exclaimed: “Wow. Just wow. This magazine is gorgeous and full of so much content and beauty, and everything else.”
