“No mistake is bad, it is just something you can grow from.”
That advice is from fifth-grade student and East Norriton Bulldog Bulletin journalist Aria Bucci. She said she learned that tip from Villanova Law School student Dean Millard when she interviewed him last year for an article in the By Kids, For Kids: Making Good Decisions magazine.
Aria and a group of other Healthy Comet reporters at Cole Manor Elementary School interviewed Dean last year. The story was about Dean’s journey from Cole Manor all the way to Villanova University, where he served as student body president last year.
Dean spoke to students about making good decisions. His words have made an impact, according to students.
“It’s helped me because I used to make mistakes. I used to be really hard on myself,” said Aria, “but I took whaat he said and realized the mistake was part of my learning journey and I won’t make that mistake again.”
Grace Makoyo said Dean helped her learn to trust herself.
“It helped me through fifth grade.…Every single time you think you do something wrong, trust your gut, and it will be probably right,” said Grace.
“It helped me in fifth grade because I learned to be more confident in myself,” said Mia Culbreath. “His words helped me to be more myself and not worry about what other people have to say.”
These students say they are appreciative to Dean for taking time out of his busy schedule to speak to them and give them important life advice.
“Thank you for helping me through fifth grade and boosting my confidence,” said Mia.
Grace said, “Thank you for inspiring me and teaching me that anything is possible with hard work.”
“Thank you for giving me all of this advice and knowledge because it has helped me a lot,” said Aria. “Pursue your dreams in law school and good luck.”
