Now available: Summer 2026 newsletter
August 25, 2026

Check out our annual summer newsletter that looks back on the 2025–26 school year and ahead to 2026–27.

Highlights include new findings from our 2025–26 evaluation showing how Healthy NewsWorks reporters gained social and emotional skills alongside writing, research, and health knowledge. Teachers reported that, on average, 91 percent of students deepened their social and emotional learning during the school year.

The newsletter also spotlights our Making Healthy Connections reporting theme and some of the experts our student reporters interviewed throughout the year, including Philadelphia Union soccer player Quinn Sullivan and former U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy.

Other highlights include reaching our $1 million-plus Building a Healthy Future campaign goal, our 2025–26 Impact Report, continued program growth, and the community partners who helped make our work possible.

The newsletter also introduces the 2026–27 reporting theme, How We Heal: Caring for Our Minds and Bodies. Reporters will explore topics including kindness, handling changes and challenges, spending time in nature, and the importance of getting enough sleep.
