The latest edition of By Kids, For Kids magazine is available!
April 30, 2026

Healthy NewsWorks reporters from Philadelphia, Camden, Norristown, and Chester contributed to the newly released Spring 2026 issue of By Kids, For Kids Magazine: Making Healthy Connections.

The magazine features student-reported stories about how connections shape our health and wellbeing. Reporters interviewed Dr. Daniel Taylor, a pediatrician at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, who explains why reaching out to others is essential for both mental and physical health, even when it feels uncomfortable. Students also explored empathy through an interview with Dr. Ken Ginsburg of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, who shares how understanding others’ feelings can help people support one another through difficult times.

This issue also features Kambel Smith, a cardboard artist who strengthened his relationship with his father through art. In another story, members of the hip-hop group ILL DOOTS share how music can bring people together and create meaningful connections.

Reporting teams that developed the main articles are the DePaul Healthy Trailblazer Journal, William Cramp Fit Flyer, Cole Manor Fit Falcon Tribute, Inquiry Charter Healthy Owl Times, and the Yorkship Family Healthy Lion.

In addition to the interviews, the magazine includes student reflections on making healthy connections, games like word scrambles and scavenger hunts, and a lot of student artwork.

The Spring 2026 edition of By Kids, For Kids is being distributed in Healthy NewsWorks partner schools across the Philadelphia area and South Jersey.

Community groups interested in receiving copies can contact editor@healthynewsworks.org. The digital version of the magazine is available online.
