A bowling field trip was one of the highlights of Catholic Partnership Schools’ summer program in cooperation with Healthy NewsWorks. Healthy Courier reporters in grades 6 to 8 took the opportunity to track their aerobic activity on the field trip.
The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends that children and adolescents have a least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day. Studies show that only 25 percent of kids are getting the recommended amount, the AHA says.
Here is what the summer campers thought about the field trip:
The arcade games were the best. Running to find games and the video dancing game gave me some aerobic exercise. And I got a strike. ─Ariane
The arcade was the best. I did a lot of running and jumping. I even got a strike. ─Madison
Getting a lot of points was fun, but I still lost both games. Running around the arcade did give me some aerobic exercise. ─Kylar
This was my first time bowling. I won my first round. The arcade games gave moderate aerobic exercise. ─Ivan
