Teachers aim to make 2025 healthy
January 29, 2025

By Cole Manor Heathy Comet reporters | Editorโ€™s note: Healthy Comet reporters recently interviewed Cole Manor staff members about their healthy New Yearโ€™s resolutions. A New Yearโ€™s resolution is a promise people make for themselves about something they want to do in the year ahead. Read the teachersโ€™ promises below. Their comments have been lightly edited for clarity.

Mrs. Piskai, first-grade teacher: I am going to stop using screens before bed to calm my mind and get a better nightโ€™s sleep.

Mrs. Custer, special education teacher: My personal goal is to exercise more in the new year. Iโ€™m aiming to go to the gym more than twice per week, up to four times if possible.

Mr. Brown, second-grade teacher: I want to stop snacking when I wake up in the middle of the night.

Mrs. White, paraprofessional: My New Yearโ€™s resolution for sleeping is to listen to my body and respond when it tells me that I need to rest.

Mrs. Habari, ESL teacher: My resolution is to exercise in the morning.

Mrs. Cleary, school nurse: I am planning to do one hour of physical activity six days per week. Mrs. Madera, fourth-grade teacher: During the week, I would like to be in bed by 9 p.m. and away from screens and work.

Mrs. Sharpe, gifted teacher: My New Year’s Resolution is to get at least six hours of uninterrupted sleep at night, to eat more healthily, and to exercise three times per week.

Mrs. Smull, third-grade teacher: I would like to sleep through the night without waking in the middle.

Mrs. Armour, librarian: I want to try to get outside for at least 15 minutes a day throughout the winter, even though it’s cold.
